Teacher Inspiration Found At Gnomedex

June 27th, 2005

It’s some of the little things that make a difference with gatherings. Gnomedex is really having an impact across everyone that was there.

I met Bre and got a liking to him right away. Here was a teacher/vblogger hanging out with a bunch of the movers in the space.

Teacher Inspiration Found At Gnomedex:

Gnomedex has inspired the both the video-blogger and teacher in me. Being around so many makers was so awesome.

I have an idea for a new pilot program. I want to change the title of my class from “6th Grade Art&” to “Make.”

I wish I had a teacher that was thinking that way.

Gnomedex and Seattle

June 24th, 2005

I’ve made my way to Seattle to attend Gnomedex, and a couple of the highlights so far were meeting the blugg and doctoe of the bluggcast, and handing Doug Kaye from IT Conversations some cash for support.

The talk in the halls is a refreshing experience. Good people and great ideas.

BBC’s download servers rocking and rolling

June 16th, 2005

BBC’s download servers rocking and rolling:

Alex Barnett notes (and links to the relevant blogs and sites) that the BBC has had 600,000 downloads of the Beethoven MP3 files in a few days. I met quite a few of the BBC’ers in London and they are doing some impressive stuff.

What/Who I’m Reading/Listening (to)…..

June 15th, 2005

Earlier today I started thinking about those feeds that I feel are really important to my flow of media (at least on the home machine).

Probably the bar minimum (not necessarily in any order):
Scripting News – Dave is indeed a great filter….
Evil Genius Chronicles
Romenesko
The Media Drop
a crank?s progress
Chad Dickerson
Tod Maffin: I Love Radio .org
[Technorati] organic farm
[Technorati] podcast
Lost Remote
mediabistro.com: TVNewser
Boing Boing
Engadget
Think Secret
AppleInsider
MacSlash
MacRumors
Small Farms
SUSTAINABLE TABLE BLOG

Podcasts when I get a chance to dump the OPML out of iPodderX and do something with it.

Now here’s some data I’d like to see

June 6th, 2005

Via Scripting News:

NPR does not “currently offer its…:

NPR does not “currently offer its programming for podcasting, but we are interested in your views on podcasting. If you would like to help, please complete this brief survey that will inform our efforts in this area.”

If there were a survey to see the data from, this would rank way up there.

Along with the Beethoven downloads from the BBC, I’d love to get a podcast of Pipe Dreams.

Beethoven as a podcast?

June 2nd, 2005

So BBC Radio 3 is going to allow us to download all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies. Why couldn’t this be a podcast? I’m sure I’ll forget to download about half the files.

I’d subscribe in a flash…. Even if only for the nine episodes. After that, let us know that you’re killing the feed, then kill it. You’d keep me looking for more.

all I wanted was a stuff package

June 2nd, 2005

I still can’t make myself give Paypal my bank account information to raise my limit.

This transaction exceeds your remaining sending limit. Please add and confirm your bank account to lift your sending limit. You will then be allowed to send more money.

In case you haven’t hit the limit ($2000 lifetime), when you do you’ll be steered to offer a bank account and go through their deposit process. In my case, I’m $3.69 from the limit. Not enough headroom for a stuff package.

I’m sure Paypal is already tracking my spending habits without my bank account number.

Oh well, nothing wrong with going the old stand by route with some snail mail fund transfer… Honestly, I think it’ll mean more than a few clicks of the button, and it’ll show up in my mail box.

Now I can drop Dave Slusher an email, say I appreciate the show and want to send him some money.

a playlist for every mood

June 1st, 2005

Thanks to Mike Dunn’s lengthy car ride, I’ve now added Podcast Solutions to my subscriptions.

Iwas quite happy to hear an interview with the iPodderX fellas. Pretty impressive that these two guys have never met face to face.

podcast solutions – michael w/ ipodderx: august and ray (1 episode)

I also downloaded the interview with Dave Slusher this morning on my way to work. Great stuff.
